Data modernization

Data modernization on Microsoft Fabric, starting with one source that matters

We bring your data into Microsoft Fabric and OneLake in stages, prove value on a real use case, and build the foundation your reporting and AI both depend on.

Your AI is only as good as the data under it

Most organizations asking about AI are asking about data. The chatbot, the forecast, and the agent all fail the same way when the data behind them is scattered, stale, or locked in a system nobody can query. Data that has carried your reporting for years can still fall short once a model is asked to act on it instead of summarize it.

Microsoft Fabric brings data engineering, data warehousing, real-time analytics, and Power BI onto one platform, with OneLake as a single copy of your data underneath. It's the foundation we build on for most data and AI work.

How we modernize, in stages

  1. Assess. We map your sources, databases, and reporting, and find where data quality or access will block the use cases you care about.
  2. Plan. A target architecture on Fabric and OneLake, a sequence for moving sources, and a clear call on what stays where it is.
  3. Prove value. We bring one high-value source into Fabric and put a real result in front of your team, often through an AI agent or a Power BI report, before anyone commits to the full build.
  4. Build. Pipelines, lakehouse or warehouse, security, and governance, source by source.
  5. Run. Capacity sizing, cost monitoring, and ongoing support so the platform keeps up as you add AI workloads.

Where you're coming from

Azure Synapse and Data Factory

Microsoft's investment has shifted to Fabric. We plan the move deliberately, including which Data Factory pipelines come along and which get rebuilt.

Power BI on its own

Fabric builds on Power BI rather than replacing it. We move you from reports on scattered sources to AI-ready analytics on governed data.

On-premises databases

SQL Server and other sources get a staged path into OneLake, with the security model designed before the first copy.

Our take: prove it on one source first

Data projects fail when they start as a six-month classification exercise with nothing to show at the end of month one. We'd rather take one source that matters, bring it into Fabric, and show a real answer your team can use. That result earns the budget and the patience for the rest.

We're also honest about what doesn't need to move. Not every pipeline has to be rebuilt, and not every workload belongs in Fabric today. We'll tell you where the value is and where it isn't.

Why CloudServus

  • Solutions Partner designation in Data & AI on Azure
  • Azure Expert MSP, independently audited by Microsoft and held by fewer than 1% of partners
  • Data to agents under one roof. The team that builds your Fabric foundation also builds the AI agents that use it.

Frequently asked questions about Microsoft Fabric and data modernization

What is data modernization?

Data modernization is moving data out of scattered, legacy systems into a modern platform where it's clean, governed, and usable for reporting and AI. On the Microsoft stack, that platform is usually Microsoft Fabric with OneLake as the single storage layer.

What is Microsoft Fabric?

Microsoft Fabric is Microsoft's unified analytics platform. It brings data engineering, data warehousing, real-time analytics, data science, and Power BI together on one service, with OneLake as a shared data lake underneath so every workload works from the same copy of the data.

Do we have to migrate off Azure Synapse or Data Factory?

Not overnight. Microsoft's investment has shifted to Fabric, so it's worth a plan. Some Data Factory pipelines move into Fabric with little change, and others are better rebuilt. We map what you have and sequence the move so reporting keeps working the whole way.

Does Microsoft Fabric replace Power BI?

No. Power BI is part of Fabric. Moving to Fabric keeps your Power BI reports and adds a governed data foundation underneath them, which is what AI-powered analytics needs.

How long does a Fabric data modernization take?

A proof of value on one source can land in weeks. A full modernization depends on how many sources you have and how clean they are, which is what the assessment establishes before you commit to a timeline.

What does Microsoft Fabric cost?

Fabric is licensed by capacity, and the right size depends on your workloads. Trials end, and capacity choices have real cost impact. We size capacity from actual usage during the proof of value instead of guessing up front.
