Use what you already own before you buy more.
Most organizations we assess already pay for strong Microsoft security tools through their Microsoft 365 licensing and use a fraction of them. DLP sits in simulation mode, sensitivity labels exist but aren't applied, and conditional access has gaps nobody has revisited. Closing those gaps usually beats adding another product, and when a third-party tool is doing its job well, we say so.

Questions about Microsoft security
What do Microsoft security services cover?
Microsoft security services cover identity and access with Microsoft Entra, data protection and compliance with Microsoft Purview, threat protection with Microsoft Defender, security monitoring with Microsoft Sentinel, and AI-assisted operations with Security Copilot. Good security work connects them so they share signals instead of running as separate tools.
How does AI change our security priorities?
AI tools and agents reach data through identities and permissions, so identity and data protection become the front line. Oversharing that was a quiet risk becomes a visible one once Copilot can search it. That's why AI governance now sits inside security.
What is a cloud security assessment?
A cloud security assessment reviews your Azure and Microsoft 365 configuration against security best practices and your own requirements. It finds gaps in identity, data protection, network exposure, and monitoring, and ranks what to fix first.
Do we need Microsoft Sentinel if we have Defender?
They do different jobs. Defender protects specific workloads such as endpoints, identities, email, and cloud resources. Sentinel collects and correlates signals across Microsoft and third-party sources for investigation and response. Many organizations use both, and some start with Defender alone.
Is AI governance a security project or an IT project?
Both, which is why it often falls through the cracks. The controls live in Microsoft 365 and Purview, the policy comes from leadership, and the risk lands on security. An AI Guardrails Assessment gives all three one plan.
