Across mid-market and enterprise organizations, the same AI story keeps repeating: licensed seats, a training rollout, and six months later, no one can point to a business outcome.
Organizations deploy Microsoft 365 Copilot, spin up Power Automate flows, or stand up Azure AI Foundry environments, and then wait for productivity to materialize. When it doesn't, the diagnosis is usually the same: the team started with the tool and worked backward to find a use case, rather than starting with a genuine operational problem and selecting technology to address it.
Gartner found that at least 50% of generative AI projects were abandoned after proof of concept, citing poor data quality, unclear business value, and escalating costs. Poor planning, more than any technical shortcoming, drives that number.
